Rentzy

Trust and safety

Strangers can trade gear. With a safety net.

Here is what Rentzy does to keep rentals fair for both sides, and, just as important, what it does not do.

A refundable security hold, not a prepaid deposit

If the owner accepts, an amount is temporarily authorized on the renter’s card 24 hours before the rental. It is not part of the rental price, it is never paid to the owner, and it is released when the return is closed without a damage claim.

It is used only if damage, loss, missing items, or late-return charges are confirmed, and never beyond the authorized amount.

See how the hold works

Payments through Stripe

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Rentzy never sees or stores your full card number, and the owner’s payout is released after the rental is completed.

Condition at handover

Owners and renters document the item’s condition at handover, so there is a record to look at if something is disputed.

Verified profiles

Anyone can verify with an ID and a selfie, and a verified profile shows a Verified badge. Those photos are used solely for verification. The badge confirms the check; it does not guarantee a transaction.

Two-way reviews

Renters and owners review each other. Both reviews are revealed together once both are in (or after 14 days), so a bad rating cannot be answered with a revenge rating.

Talk on Rentzy

Questions, pickup details, and return plans stay in one in-app thread. Taking a deal off-platform to avoid fees or protections is against the Terms.

Fair disputes

Damage, deposit, and return disputes are opened from the rental screen. Rentzy reviews evidence from both sides in good faith and decides on deposit allocation. While a case is open, nothing is charged or released from the hold.

Badges

What the badges mean

Badges carry equal weight, are not used to rank search results, and a business is not automatically more trusted than a private owner.

A Verified Rental Business has been reviewed and verified by Rentzy. Verification confirms the business information but does not guarantee every transaction.

Honest limits

What Rentzy does not do

  • Rentzy is not an insurer. It does not provide insurance and does not guarantee that a rental is covered by insurance. Check whether your own policies cover items you rent.
  • Rentzy is not a party to the rental. It connects owners and renters, does not own the listed equipment, and does not guarantee its condition or fitness for purpose.
  • Decisions concern held funds only. Rentzy’s dispute decision covers money held by the platform and does not limit anyone’s legal rights against the other side.
